Unveiling Authentic Beauty: Cardi B’s Journey with Natural Hair and a Homemade Hair Mask for Herself and Daughter Kulture

Cardi B might love to spend money on clothes, jewelry, bags, cars, wigs, manicures and more, but when it comes to taking care of her hair — and the hair of little Kulture, her nearly 2-year-old daughter with Migos rapper Offset — she’s more of a DIY kinda girl.

The rapper took to her Instagram Stories on June 8 to show followers how to make an all-natural hair mask using items most people have in their kitchens. The recipe also includes several oils that are easy to get.

“I’m doing a hair mask for Kulture. This is avocado and I just finished putting the argan oil [in], I’m gonna put mayonnaise, castor oil, olive oil — I know it’s a lot of oil but my baby hair gotta be really hydrated like mine — and I’m about to put egg and honey [in],” she begins her videos, adding, “It’s a lot, right? It’s for me and Kulture.”

Next, Cardi shows herself gripping a spoon as she adds the next ingredient to the bowl: mayo. “Big scoop — big chunky scoop,” she tells the camera before squeezing in a little honey too. “I’m not gonna put that much honey becaue since it’s a baby I don’t want her hair to be sticky, and she just touches it and weird stuff. Just a little bit.” Cardi then briefly struggles to add an egg thanks to her 2-inch-long green nails. “Guys, wish me luck cracking this egg,” she quips before the yolk and egg white plop through her fingers and into the bowl.”

“And now I’m gonna put a lot of black castor oil. Put it all in that b—-!” she says before blending the concoction to a smooth consistency. “And I’mma put it in the blender so the avocado meat — actually I added an extra avocado — so that avocado meat won’t be in your f—ing head ’cause it’s really hard to take avocado chunks off your head…”

But she wasn’t done yet. “Why not, I’m gonna add a banana because a banana is really good nutriments to the hair,” she says. “All of this s— is good for the hair, you know what I’m saying?”

Another egg goes in and the blender geos to work. “Now this s— right here is gonna go for me and my baby’s hair,” Cardi says before showing herself putting the homemade mask on Kulture’s hair. “Look how it brings out her curl pattern. This treatment is really good for curl patterns,” she adds. “I don’t really have a curl pattern but my baby does.”

The music star then faced the camera wearing a bikini and showed off her voluminous natural hair. “OK guys, so this is really how my hair is,” she says. “My hair gets like this when you blow dry it then two days later it just gets puffed up like this. This is my hair texture. My hair is not curly and my daughter’s hair is curly.  But my s— just don’t get curly at all … it’s just straight like this. But I still need moisture.” She then explained what else the mask does aside from moisturize. “It’s just a good hair mask to help your hair grow,” Cardi says. “And all the good things you put in your body, you gotta put in your hair.”

OKAY Pure Naturals compiled all of Cardi’s posts into one video after realizing she’d used their Black Jamaican castor oil in her recipe. See it here (though be ready to hear some very salty Cardi language).

Cardi then posted an “after” shot of her sleek post-mask hair on her Instagram feed, telling followers, “The end results of all that s— I put on my hair earlier???. Treat your hair ladies …and don’t let a nikka tell you s— bout wearing wigs?It helps with hair growth ALOT!
