Abbeyglen Castle Hotel in Connemara, Ireland

Abbeyglen Castle, built in 1832 by John d’Arcy, was leased to the parish priest of the time as Glenowen House. In 1854, the Irish Church Mission Society purchased the castle to use as a Protestant orphanage. The castle continued to operate under the name of Connemara Orphan Nurseries until 1955.
