The Ohio SPCA posted to its Facebook page details about a dog that was rescued from a Scioto County home.
The SPCA got a call about a dog — a new mother named Ruby — that was extremely skinny and very pregnant. The Scioto County Humane Society went to the home and didn’t get an answer at the door. Because of the physical condition of the dog, it and a puppy were taken from the home, taken to a veterinarian and put into the Ohio SPCA’s care. The SPCA said the owner was contacted Thursday morning and surrendered both the mother dog and its puppy to the Ohio SPCA.
Ruby was ѕtагⱱed to the point her ribs were clearly visible. She was also flea-ridden and her ears are cvered with fly Ьіteѕ.She is also has an infection and is receiving around-the-clock care at MedVet in Columbus. Ruby is walking some, but prefers the company of a blanket. She is vomiting and is on an IV.
Her one-week-old puppy is being bottle fed every two hours by a veterinarian in Scioto County. Ruby currently is too weak to produce enough milk to feed her puppy.
