A mother who was forced to have a caesarean section during her painful birth was ‘shell shocked’ after waking to find out she had delivered a little boy who weighs almost six kilograms.
Breanna Sykes, from Carramar, in Perth, welcomed her 5.9 kilogram son Ziad Kadic into the world on Saturday at 7.15pm on Saturday.
Doctors from all over Joondalup Health Campus, where Ziad was delivered by caesarean section, flocked to see the not so little miracle, who is one of the heaviest babies ever delivered in Western Australia, according to Perth Now.

‘One of the doctors said to me he’s the biggest baby he has seen in his 15 years as a doctor,’ Ms Sykes said.
While Ziad’s weight is pushing six kilograms (13.2 pounds), the average weight of a newborn baby is juts over three kilograms, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

But doctors have assured Ms Sykes that the ‘chunky’ newborn, who is around the size of a three month old, is ‘perfectly healthy’ and have put his exceptional size down to genetics, Perth Now reported.
‘They have done all these tests and all the blood work, he’s perfectly healthy,’ Ms Sykes said.

Ms Sykes had not planned to have a c-section but doctors – who initially estimated Ziad’s weight to be just over four kilograms, or around nine pounds – decided to put her under anaesthetic after the pain she was experiencing caused her to have an anxiety attack.
‘They said he is just not going to fit, if I try and push the baby he could break my pelvis so I had to get a caesarean unfortunately,’ she told Nine News.
‘But he’s here safe and happy… that’s all that matters,’ she added.
Ms Sykes and Ziad are expected to go home on Tuesday.
