Despite the criticism and “voices” of everyone around, an old woman in India is still determined to give birth at the age of 72 after 46 years of trying to become a mother. However, she and her husband also have many concerns.

Desperate at not being able to have children, relatives think the couple is cursed

Daljinder Kaur and Mohinder Singh Gill, who live in Amritsar, India, have been married since 1970. She said, like many couples in the past, her marriage was completely arranged, but she and her husband were not. very compatible.

After the wedding, Mrs. Daljinder Kaur had three miscarriages and she was completely devastated by this. Because of their inability to have children, the couple was repeatedly insulted by their neighbors. Even relatives thought that Mrs. Daljinder Kaur was “cursed” and suggested that her husband remarry.

Fortunately, Mr. Mohinder has always been supportive of his wife, despite the fact that she is unlikely to have any more children. Despite being trusted and loved by her husband, Mrs. Daljinder Kaur always feels sad because she cannot be a mother like her peers.

In 2012, Mrs. Daljinder Kaur saw a TV advertisement for the National In vitro Reproduction and Neonatal Center in Haryana, northern India. Although she had never known the concept of in vitro fertilization, she was still excited to try it and luckily, she was approved by her husband.

At first, the doctor was hesitant because of concerns about her reproductive health. However, after seeing the couple’s strong will to have children, the doctor conducted tests and agreed to help Mrs. Daljinder Kaur and her husband.

At that time, because she was too old to have children, she and her husband used donated eggs and sperm. The insemination process has consumed most of the couple’s savings because the couple has to spend up to 2,000 pounds (about 60 million VND) for each procedure. After two failed fertilization attempts in 2013 and 2014, in July 2015, Mrs. Daljinder Kaur was successful.

“When I walk down the street with a heavy belly, people stare at me. They couldn’t believe an elderly woman was pregnant,” she said.

Despite the age problem and the scrutiny of many people, the mother over 70 years old has experienced a fairly smooth pregnancy. On April 19, 2016, she gave birth by caesarean section to a baby boy named Arman Singh, weighing about 2kg.
